A Midsummer Night's Dream

Lovers, mechanicals and fairies collide in one moonlit forest. Shakespeare's most joyful comedy, outdoors in spirit if not in weather.

The production

Lord, What Fools

Hermia loves Lysander, Helena loves Demetrius, Demetrius loves Hermia — and the Duke's wedding is in four days. Fleeing to the forest, the lovers blunder into Oberon and Titania's quarrel, Puck's mischief, and six workmen rehearsing a tragedy for the wedding feast.

Our Dream fills the Grand Hall with forty metres of hand-dyed silk, a moon that rises over the stalls, and Bottom's transformation staged with the company's puppetry unit. David Okafor doubles as Oberon and Theseus; Elena Marsh reigns as Titania.

“The forest grew out of the stalls and the whole house leaned in. The funniest, most open-hearted Dream in years.”
