In the Heights

Three days in Washington Heights: bodegas, blackouts, first love and home. The most joyful noise of our season.

The production

Paciencia Y Fe, Live

Usnavi runs the corner bodega and dreams of the Dominican shore; Nina returns from college with news; Benny and Vanessa circle each other over one hot summer. When the power fails across the barrio, the neighbourhood has to decide what home really means.

Our production brings a nine-piece Latin band into the pit — horns, tres and a rhythm section that has the stalls moving by the finale. Saturday matinees are relaxed performances with house lights softened and sound gently lowered.

What the evening includes

  • A live nine-piece Latin band in the pit, led from the piano
  • Spanish surtitles on every performance — no dialogue missed
  • Under-16s half price at the box office for all matinees
  • Post-show salsa social in the foyer after Friday performances

“The rare musical that feels like a street party you were lucky to be invited to. Troy, go — and take the kids.”
