Rhythms of Redemption
A brand-new commission: five strangers, one night bus, and the beat that carries them all home.
The production
New Writing, First Light
The last bus out of the city breaks down at midnight with five passengers who have nothing in common but the need to get home. As the depot clock ticks, their stories surface — a nurse, a runaway, a retired boxer, a night-shift baker and the driver who has heard it all.
Commissioned from playwright Adaeze Nwosu and developed in our studio, Rhythms of Redemption pairs text with a live street percussionist. David Okafor leads the cast as the driver holding the night together.
What the evening includes
- A world premiere, developed and built entirely at Lumen
- Live street percussion woven through the performance
- Post-show Q&A with the writer after every performance
- Pay-what-you-can final preview for under-26s

“A premiere with the confidence of a classic. Nwosu writes night-shift Troy like nobody else, and Lumen stages it beautifully.”
